With no development, ranching or farming activity conducted on the shore, Blue Lake offers pure water in it’s natural state.
The water does not required filtration before disinfection and distribution to consumers.
The bulk water for export meets the EPA standards without filtration. Each year the City of Sitka submits a Watershed Control Report. The report addresses the following areas:
1. Special concerns regarding the watershed and the handling practices;
2. Outlining any activity that will affect the water quality in the watershed;
3. Planning for future activities that may have an adverse affect on the watershed;
4. Present the certification statement and signatures.
